About Us

Glennisha Morgan is the founder and publisher of The Fembassy, a website that is solely dedicated to female emcees and women in Hip Hop. Glennisha is also a freelance journalist and filmmaker who contributes to various publications and is senior editor at Ikons Magazine and a blogger for Vibe Vixen. Her work has also appeared in Clutch Magazine, the Michigan Front Page, Digiwaxx Media's The Blast, Street Logik, and AOL's Spinner.com, just to name a few. During her writing career she has had the wonderful opportunity to interview people like MC Lyte, Kevin Liles, Deborah Cox, Jesse Dayton, Bobby Valentino, Bahamadia, Marsha Ambrosius and Chester French.In 2009 Glennisha was a honoree at the Women of Hip Hop Awards located in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2010 Glennisha was featured in BET's first original music documentary, My Mic Sounds Nice and was noted as one of the most inspiring black women on Twitter by ForHarriet.com. At the top of this year ForHarriet.com also noted Glennisha as one of 30 black women bloggers you should know about . Glennisha's commentary has been featured on Vibe.com, CentricTV.com, and in Juicy Magazine. Glennisha just concluded working on her first MOW/pilot for a major television network and is working on her first documentary, titled "Everywhere". Glennisha currently resides in New York City.

COLORED GIRLS: VOLUME 1

Colored girls is a collaborative creation of 10 rad women of color artists.In April 2009 we came together to commemorate National Poetry Writing Month by participating in the A Poem A Day (APAD) movement. Not a single one of us produced 30 poems in 30 days. However, every single one of us explored the limits of our productivity and produced poems thriving with wisdom, healing, honesty and literary excellence. Contributors include Nadia Abou-Karr, Noemi Martinez, Stacey Milbern, Glennisha Morgan, anna Saini, annu Saini, Fabiola Sandoval, Lottie Spady and Mai'a Williams with cover art by Kameelah Rasheed. This is the inaugural publication by Husters//Artist Productions. Look for Volume 2 of this National Poetry Month anthology in May 2011.
